Before You Buy: Quality and What to Expect

Before you buy - this solid wood product, by nature, is unique and will most likely not be flawless upon delivery. Below you will see a few examples of what we do not consider to be a defect. Many of the pictures below can be found in/on a product you purchase or have purchased before.

All products should be inspected prior to installation or upon hiring a professional to install them. Northern Kentucky Cedar, LLC is not responsible for loss of money, time, or assets due to defective or broken parts. We try to make our products so that they represent what is pictured on our site, but we make no guarantee that this solid wood product will be flawless upon delivery. After inspecting your parts, if there is something that concerns you please give us a call and our support staff will be more than happy to help in any way they can.

If you receive a product that is not structurally sound or was damaged during shipping, we will make every effort to correct your problem at no additional cost to you. Send pictures of the damaged product to sales@northernkycedar.com so we can determine if a replacement is necessary. Minor misalignment may happen due to the wood expanding or contracting, or while we manufacture them the drill bits may deflect off the grain or knots in the wood. This is out of our control and does not cause any structural problems. A handheld sander may be required to align panels, shelves, T&G, and/or rods once assembled. If your product has misalignment and is a cause for concern, please reach out to us and we will determine if a replacement is necessary or if it can be fixed. Though we try to make our products align, it is not 100% all the time due to this being a real wood product.

This is a manufactured real wood product. Our panel sides come in two parts and our shelving is nailed together.

Any product we sell may contain the following, these are all natural characteristics of Aromatic Red Cedar. These pictures are also zoomed in quite a bit, most of these on the actual product are no more than 3 inches long.

Checking: Minor cracks that do not affect the structure of the wood. These typically do not go all the way through, but can.

Knots / Pith: Typically solid, but may loosen over time or during transit. In general we do not send product that has a knot hole lager than a standard pencil. If the knot is large, but solid, it should not be a cause for concern.

Putty Correction: We may have to add wood putty to a section of the product to correct any cosmetic issues.

Ingrown / Bark: Cedar naturally has a lot of ingrown bark seams that will show up in the finished product. We try to make it as small as possible.
